Pantheon Partnership

Overview

alt

Fast Forward has been a Pantheon partner for more than a decade — long enough to have run sites through every shape of the platform, from the original Drupal hosting, the expansion to WordPress hosting, hosting to Decoupled Sites on WordPress and Drupal hosting, to the Next.js platform that runs this site today. The relationship has held up because Pantheon has consistently been on the leading edge of enterprise web hosting, and consistently understood what developers actually need to get their jobs done.

The things Pantheon got right early — and keeps getting right — are the unglamorous ones. CI/CD that maps cleanly to Dev/Test/Live promotion. On-demand Multidev branches that spin up a full environment for a feature, a migration phase, or a risky update. Automated core, plugin, and module upgrades that flow through the same review surface as everything else. Terminus, the platform CLI, that lets a small team operate a lot of sites the same way across Drupal, WordPress, and Next.js.

Excited for the Future

The shape of a content team in 2026 is not the shape it was in 2016. Marketing doesn't live in the CMS anymore. Briefs draft in Google Docs. Project plans run in Monday or Airtable. Brand assets ship out of Adobe Express or Canva. Internal docs sit in Office365 and Sharepoint. Each team picks the tool that fits the way they actually work, and the website is just one publishing outlet among many.

That's a shift toward loosely-coupled systems — and it's a good shift. The old model, where one CMS owned everything from the editorial calendar to the asset library to the publishing surface, never really fit how teams operate. The new model says: let the marketing team work in the tools they're already productive in.

Pantheon's newer offerings make that practical at the hosting layer — first-class support for headless and decoupled architectures, the Next.js platform, and support for editing and previewing content directly in Google Docs and Office 365. You can continue to support your Drupal and Wordpress sites, while moving to a modern content editorial flow.

Combined with our decade-plus of WebOps experience, that's the leverage we're aiming at: a site that meets each team where they already work, instead of asking them to come back to the CMS.

Services

There are many ways we can support your web portfolio on Pantheon:

  • New site design and build. Strategy, design, and engineering for a Drupal, WordPress, or Next.js site standing up on Pantheon from scratch. Trust us with your site build.
  • Site migration. We have migrated many large mission critical sites to Pantheon, including hospitals on both coasts, universities and major ecommerce clients. Sometimes the first step is just getting to a platform that works better for your organization.
  • Site replatform. Perhaps you like the design of your site but you have outgrown your content management system or your editorial flow. We can work with you to lift your existing designs organization a new platform.

Additional Services

Not every engagement is a full project. As a developer led company, we realize that we can deliver high value in small, concentrated engagements

  • Staff augmentation. Whether your current workload is greater than your roster can hold, or an internal team that needs additional bandwidth on a Pantheon site, we can embed a team member with you for the duration. They work in your tools, on your schedule, with your team's conventions — and bring the Pantheon and WebOps depth you'd otherwise need to hire.
  • Workflow consulting. Strategic work on WebOps practice, CMS design, site architecture, release process, or systems integration. Useful when the site itself is fine but the team running it is hitting friction and wants to fast forward past.

Get In Touch

If you're scoping a build, a migration, a replatform, or ongoing support on a Pantheon site, get in touch. We'll start with what's actually slowing the team down, not the stack.

Pick a platform that gets out of the way, then let every team work in the tool that fits them best.
